The Discourse Of Your Writing - 1306 Words

Writers always have a way of â€Å"faking it until you make it† as Bartholomae says but there is a whole other side to this using rhetoric. Using rhetoric will help aid your writing and will connect with all academia of any kind in any setting that will come toward you. To connect with the academy you will have to know you have to pretend to be the most credible source to your readers. You will also have to see the certain situation you are in and the specific audience that it’s towards. Writers have to write for a specific context to persuade an audience of the academy by acting and writing like you are an expert while explaining the certain purpose of the text. So you can speak for the University however you like, all you have to do is have information to give yourself authority. To give yourself authority you make it appear to your reader that you are an expert. To look like an expert you must make yourself appear like a professional by using other experts work to support your writing. This will make the reader feel like you are a very credible source. â€Å"They must learn to speak our language. Or they must dare to speak it, or to carry off the bluff, since speaking and writing will most certainly be required long before the skill is â€Å"learned†Ã¢â‚¬  (Bartholomae). This is how you â€Å"fake it until you make it† and become a speaker for the University and write within the specific situation towards the audience. The audience of the University is all academia. The academy includes the professors as well as the college students. The writer has to write in such a vocabulary and flow of words so the student or the instructor understands the writer’s viewpoint. The writer writes in the situation knowing they are going to be graded for their writing and how well they understand the topic.
